I never thought I'd ever get married, that is until I met Nate. He made me realize that the little things in life are just as important as everything else. From our serendipitous meeting in Vegas to our short lived travels and to our lives with Loki and Brownie, it's been the best 5 years of my life. He always makes me laugh, loves me unconditionally, and most of all is truly my best friend.
He knows everything about me, especially my love of gardens so on our first trip to Portland he made it a point to take me to all three of their Gardens (Japanese, Rose and Chinese). The first two were breath-taking so I didn't think anything when we got to the Lan Su Chinese gardens and there were slow jams playing in the background. I was just amazed being there that it took me a second to realize we were the only ones there. He rented out the entire place just for us so I wanted to take my time exploring everything from all the little tea rooms to the gardens themselves. Little did I realize he had bigger plans in place, he had hired an amazing photographer to take our pictures, since I always said it would be amazing to have someone follow us around and take our pictures. Then he lead me in front of a beautiful waterfall and told me to close my eyes. He started saying all these wonderful things and suddenly my obliviousness went away. I opened my eyes, he proposed and now we're on our way to being man and wife. It's been such an amazing adventure and I can't wait to see what else is in store.

I realized early on in our relationship that I was already with the person I was meant to spend my life with. When I look at her I see our future and that's what she is the one for me. In May of 2015 we planned a small get-a-way for the long memorial day weekend. I had the ring already and I was just waiting for the perfect time to propose. After some research I decided to propose at the Lan Su Chinese Garden in downtown Portland. We both love gardens and nature and t‘he garden seemed to fit our personalities the best.
I contacted the garden so that I could rent it out for a few hours so that there wouldn't be a crowd and we could have this moment be private and intimate. I also contacted Portland based photographer Meredith Bacon to capture the special moment. Despite my stuttering and nervousness she said YES and the day was perfect. Thanks to Meredith, we will have this moment forever to keep and share with our loved ones.
